Synopsis: Donald Crowhurst, an amateur sailor who competed in the 1968 Sunday Times Golden Globe Race in the hope of becoming the quickest person to single-handedly circumnavigate the globe without stopping. Putting on the fate of his business and house for the fortune of his family and, of course, himself, Donald leaves his family and business and begins his journey from England with all the solitude, tough decision and self-exploration ahead.
Not long after his departure, it becomes apparent to Donald that he is drastically unexperienced. His initial progress is slow, so Donald begins to fabricate his route and suddenly emerges as a serious contender of the competition. One by one, his fellow competitors pull out from the competition with only Donald and another challenger remain.
Despite of the bad weather and faulty equipment, Donald has no choice but to keep going, yet discovers that the greatest challenge is to face himself with all the loneliness. With the pressure from his sponsor and his family awaiting, Donald has nowhere to go but walking closer and closer to the edge of his mental breakdown.
