Francois Truffaut, one of the most widely acclaimed directors in the history of cinema, is also the most famous of the French New Wave directors.
??Truffaut has always been the No.1 fan of Alfred Hitchcock. That's why he made the thriller "Shoot the Pianist" to pay tribute to Hitchcock right after his first film "The 400 Blows" became a success. He has made a lot of films in different genres since, but he never gave up making thrillers even before his death.
??During his later years, he had made "The Last Metro", "The Woman Next Door" and "Confidentially Yours", all of which are thrillers with a bit of romance thrown in. This has become another high point in his life for he received ten awards at the Cesar Awards in France for "The Last Metro", which also marked the end of his prolific career.
