Paul and Barbara are enjoying a vacation of the coast of spain with howard, their wealthy investor and Vicki his wife. Their sailboat crashes on a reef, trapping Vicki below deck. Paul and Barbara must go to the nearest town for help. But when Paul returns, Howard and Vicki have vanished.

As night falls, Paul finds himself pursued by the entire town. Running for this life, he uncovers imboca's secret; All outsides are sacrificed to dagaon, a monstrous god of the sea-the men skinned a live, the women offered to bear dagon's offspring-the freakish half-human creatures that populate imboca.
