It is 1925, and Verne Miller (Scott Glenn) is released from prison after serving two years for embezzing public funds. Once a South Dakota lawman, his life changed when he realized that lawman and criminals were both in the same business. Verne heads first to the city of St. Paul, where he quickly claims the attention of several noted gangsters. Success and fame in St. Paul soon draw Verne to chicage and Al Capone(Thomas G. Waites). He immediately impresses Capone by killing Bugs Moran's top gun. On November 29, 1933, the story of one of America's most feared and fearless gangster come to its fatal conclusion when Verne Miller's body was found in a ditch on the outskirts of Detroit. To this day, the identity of his killers remains unknown.
