Two men are traveling a desolate highway through the Southwestern desert. JACK(Lance Henriksen)is an ordinary looking, pot-bellied salesman on his way home. ADRIAN(Eric Roberts) is a young drifter in dusty clothes and cowboy boots, a backpack at his feet, hitchhiking by the side of the road. There is something about the man that gives Jack an eerie feeling as he speeds by, leaving Adrian behind. When their paths cross again and their strange odyssey begins, Jack has no way of knowing his life is about to change.
He already know it's a bad time to be in the desert. The radio is warning travelers about a series of grisly murders in the area. The killer they call the Hatchetman is still at large. And there is another desperate criminal on the run, a man fleeing Las Vegas with a million dollars of stolen mob money and an underworld price on his head. Small town sheriffs
