FACE tells the story of a woman's resolute and improbable quest for freedom. MASAKO, an awkward, withdrawn woman, kills her sister in an explosion of pent-up humiliation and rage, and stumbles into a fugitive life. Eluding the police, haunted by guilt, yet taking charge of her own actions for the first time, Masako transforms herself and the handful of people who befriend her. The threat of imprisonment ironically hands Masako a second chance at life and the opportunity to experience it fully. She comes to appreciate the responsibilities that accompany friendship and love and the true nature of freedom.
