Most of the Earth's creatures emerge under cover of darkness. Aided by the latest in night-time camera technology, a crack team of biologists and film-makers adventure to South and Central America to reveal the thrills, scares and strangeness of life in the dark.
Along the way these intrepid explorers illuminate a world of trap-door spiders and headlamp beetles. They abseil into the black pit of a giant cave, fear for their lives as a jaguar prowls just feet away, shiver at the bone-chilling shrieks of the howler monkey and thrill at the discovery of vampire bats sucking blood.
