The two wives of King Ping of Zhao deliver their sons on the same day. The baby of concubine Kam-fung dies at birth. She secretly switches the dead baby with the son of queen Choi-luen. Choi-luen becomes pregnant again but Kam-fung dispatches an assassin to kill the Empress Dowager assuming the identity of Choi-luen's lover. She even presses the king to brand Choi-luen's eyes before banishing her to a deserted mountain. Guarded by animals of the land, Choi-luen safely gives birth to a son.
Queen Choi-luen and the third crown prince Yuk-lun have been living in the mountains for sixteen years. The Holy Goddess of Mount Hua bestows on Choi-luen a pair of magic eyes, magic wings, and an invisible fan so that she may return to the palace to protect her elder son Kam-lun, whose life is wanted by concubine Kam-fung. Choi-luen tries to save Kam-lun but is captured. The concubine instigates Kam-lun to kill his own mother. Luckily, Yuk-lun and his animal helpers arrive to deal with the villain. With Kam-fung's death, Kam-lun ascends the throne while Choi-luen returns to the palace to reunite with her family
