Marilyn Monroe makes things hot for Tom Ewell in this fast and furious marial farce directed by Billy Wilder and based on the hit Broadway play.
Set during sweltering New York summer, the story begins as Richard Sherman (played expertly by Ewell in a superb reprise of his stage role) says goodbye to his wife and young son, who are leaving for a seashore vacation. Sherman has every intention of behaving himself while he's on his own. Until he meets his new upstairs neighor, called simply 'The Girl'.
It's Marilyn, in one of the funniest, most accomplished performances of her career. Virtually playing herself in clinging dresses that appear to be sprayed on, she is both delightfully uninhibited and seductively naive at the same time. Exuding sensuality in everything she does, from casually talking about posing nude, beating the heat by keeping her underwear in the refrigerator, or simply wlaking up the stairs, The Girl is Sherman's........
