傳統上一直沒有描述耶穌基督形貌的畫像或記錄。但一直都有一個為大眾熟知的基督形象在世上流傳，經歷過許多年頭，這個形象仍在不斷演化中。本片縱橫歐洲大陸，以及南美洲，通過檢視許多基督教的曠世名作，探討原始創作的動機。這些作品包括了古羅馬時期的古典作品、現代的錄影作品、公開慶典及個人對宗教展現虔誠的物品等。
Jesus came from a tradition without portraiture and there are no contemporary accounts of his appearance,but still a generally recognised image of Christ has evolved over the years. Seeing Salvation travels across Europe and South America to look in detail at the great masterpieces of Christian art and to discover a senseof their original purpose.The works themselves range from the classical pieces of ancient Rome to contemporary video installations and include objects used in popular festivals or for private devotion.
