廣東音樂明快健朗情緒的表露或以花鳥景物為標題的抒情性樂曲，旋律抒情優美，演奏連貫，歌唱性強，展現出富於 詩意的嶺南風光。
廣東音樂，流行於廣東地區的絲竹音樂，是從廣東戲曲中“過場”的民間小曲調基礎上發展起來的。早期樂隊由二弦 、提琴、笛子、月琴和三弦組成，稱為“五架頭”。約在1920年後，受江南絲竹的影響，改變為高胡領奏為主，輔以楊琴 和秦琴，又稱“三件頭”。此後樂隊組合又有了種種發展，廣東音樂的音色清脆明亮，曲調流暢優美，節奏活潑明快。
